The Power of the Platform - Speakers on Life
the “Tiffany & Co.” logo visible. Can you believe
that people were calling the “1-800” phone
number in the ad to see who answered? My,
but some of us sure are competitive! I still hear
about that game. It takes a lot of preparation,
but it’s worth it.
The best part about having clients visit you at
your home is that they will come to see you as
an individual – not just a salesperson, coach,
consultant, or vendor. They will see your design
tastes, meet your spouse or friends, and – most
importantly – they will feel special because you
thought to invite them.
Sharing the love
I love to cook and bake. It’s the perfect antidote
to a long day at the computer. I am a foodie – I
even enjoy watching cooking shows while I’m
exercising. Once, my personal trainer noticed
I had a cooking show on TV while I was on
the elliptical cross-trainer. He watched for a
moment as the host stirred cream into a pan of
butter. He shook his head as he walked away
and mumbled, “That’s just WRONG!” I defended
it, though, and promised to substitute fat-free
“Half & Half” for the heavy cream.
I also love to try new recipes, but living alone
means I could be eating a dish for several
nights. It makes perfect sense to have guests
over to enjoy my experiments! After all, if it’s
a disaster, relief in the form of pizza delivery
is just a phone call away. We need to stretch
ourselves and enjoy the process.
