düşünmesinden kaynaklandı diyebiliriz.
Enerji, ticaret, inşaat ve turizm gibi
alanlarda Türkiye’nin Rusya’ya olan
bağımlılığı bu kanısını güçlendirmiş gibi
gözüküyor. Ayrıca, son yıllarda yaşanan
Suriye merkezli Ankara politikalarına
biriktirdiği tepkileri sanki topluca dışa
vurmuş gibi duruyor.
TÜRKİYE’NİN TEPKİSİ SERT OLDU
Türkiye, Rusya’nın Ermeni soykırımı
iddialarının 100. yılı anmalarındaki söylemlerine
oldukça ciddi tepkiler verdi.
Türkiye bu konuda Rusya’ya “Soykırımın
ne olduğunu en iyi sen bilirsin. Önce
kendi tarihine bak” diyerek çok sert
tepki verdi. Ancak, Türkiye soykırım
iddialarını kabul eden diğer ülkelerden
tepki olarak büyükelçilerini geri çağırmasına
rağmen dikkat çekici bir şekilde
Moskova’dan büyükelçisini geri çekme
Ankara in terms of Armenian genocide
claims. There are deep-rooted
historical, cultural and political bonds
between Armenia and Russia. The
Armenian diaspora in Russia is highly
powerful and influential with its 2-million
population. Armenia is the most
important partner of Moscow in the
South Caucasus with military base
provided to Russia. The two countries
see each other as strategic partners.
Armenia has entrusted its economy
and security almost entirely to Russia.
Moreover, Armenia made a very important
choice by joining the Eurasian
Economic Union as of January 2015,
which is Russia’s strategic integration
project. In this regard, President of
Russia Putin chose to attend the 100 th
anniversary ceremony in Yerevan although
he was invited personally by
President Erdoğan to the 100 th anniversary
ceremony of the Çanakkale Victory
on April 24.
Russia has awarded the strategic choice
of Yerevan in a sense by giving support
to Armenia on April 24. Even if the
Çanakkale ceremonies were held on
March 18 or a couple of weeks before
April 24, Putin would nonetheless go
to Armenia on April 24 and genocide
claims would escalate anyhow. Russia
may not give such a substantial support
if Turkey had seriously warned Russia
at the top level. In our opinion, Russia’s
laxness is stemming from the belief
that Ankara would not give a serious
reaction to this issue or even if Turkey
did, it would get over this crisis easily.
It seems this belief was consolidated as
Turkey is dependent on Russia in many
areas such as energy, trade, construction
and tourism.
TURKEY’S RESPONSE WAS STRONG
Turkey gave quite serious reactions to
the declarations of Russia in the commemoration
of the 100 th anniversary
of Armenia’s genocide claims. Turkey
made a harsh statement by saying, “You
know the best what is genocide. First,
look at your own history.” However,
Turkey did not call back its ambassador
in Moscow while it called back
the ambassadors in other countries
that recognized the genocide claims.
In order to prevent any escalation in
the tension between the two countries,
