Guidelines for Extension of TimeOn June 30 th of each year, every amendment held by a district must have either a Certificate ofCompletion/Compliance, or an Extension of Time. An Extension of Time for each open amendmentmust be filed with the Regional Office of Education by June 30 th of every year until the amendment iscomplete. After approval by the Regional Superintendent, the Extension of Time is sent to the IllinoisState Board of Education. The recommendation for extension of time shall be considered approvedby the State Superintendent unless the Regional Superintendent receives notification to the contrarywithin 60 calendar days after the submission of the report.The application for an Extension of Time must be approved by the Board of Education, and it mustbe signed by the President and Secretary of the Board. Forward the original and 2 copies to yourRegional Office of Education. Please check the accuracy and completeness of your application(s)before submitting. Incomplete applications will be returned. All Boards of Education are responsiblefor life safety compliance.After approval by the Regional Superintendent, the application will be returned to the District Office.A copy of the approval will be forwarded to the Office of the County Clerk by the district.4-28
