Temporary vs Permanent Facility ProcessUpon the decision of a local school board to use a facility which may meet the definition of aTemporary Facility, these steps must be followed:Step #1: Complete the Application for Approval to Use a Temporary Facility, and, if appropriate,the Application for Occupancy Permit.Form Required:• Form 36-26 Application for Approval to use a Temporary Facility (Page 5-5)• Form 36-15 Application for Occupancy Permit (Page 1-11)Step #2: If a permanent School Building Certificate of Occupancy can be issued, the facilitybecomes a regular school building and will be inspected annually by the RegionalOffice of Education. It no longer falls under the requirements of this chapter.Step #3: If the facility does not comply with all the requirements of Part 180, but does notpresent a <strong>Health</strong>/<strong>Life</strong> <strong>Safety</strong> hazard, then Form 36-28 and Form 35-90 must becompleted by the district and design professional and submitted to the Regional Officeof Education.Form Required:• Form 36-28 Annual Inspection Checklist for Temporary Facility (Page 5-6)• Form 36-26 Application for Approval to use a Temporary Facility (Page 5-5)Step #4: If a Temporary Occupancy Certificate is issued, the facility is approved as a temporaryfacility for only one year and must annually follow the procedure for continued use ofTemporary Facilities.Step #5: For all Temporary Facilities the Temporary Facility Checklist must be completedannually and submitted to the Regional Office of Education. The Regional Office, uponapproval, will issue a one-year “Temporary Facility Certificate of Occupancy.”Step #6: If a Temporary Facility comes into “full compliance” with Part 180, then a regularApplication for Occupancy, Form 36-15, must be submitted to the Regional Office ofEducation and upon approval, a permanent School Building Certificate of Occupancywill be issued.Form Required:• Form 36-15 Application for Occupancy Permit (Page 1-11)5-3
