EachRoundWay bearing combines the high load capacity ofhardened and ground steel recirculating rollers with arigid malleable iron pillow block providing extremelyhigh load capacity with smooth linear travel. TheRoundWay linear roller bearing comes in both a singleand dual version. A single RoundWay linear roller bearingdoes not resist side loads and is therefore alwaysused in conjunction with a dual version, unless used ina configuration as shown in Figures 2, 3 and 4 onpage 105.Each RoundWay linear roller bearing is designed foruse on 60 Case LinearRace. The 60 Case* LinearRace*shaft an be continuously supported using type LSR,SR, FLSR or XSR 60 Case LinearRace support rails orintermittently supported using the adjustableWaymount* LinearRace supports type WM.The RoundWay linear roller bearing consists of fourbasic parts: the bearing race, the roller assembly, theeccentric trunnion pin and the mounting block. Therolling elements of a RoundWay linear roller bearing area series of concave rollers interconnected and linkedby a chain assembly. As load is applied to themounting block it is transferred through the bearingrace and roller assembly to the supported 60 CaseLinearRace. Connecting the mounting block to theRoundWaybearing and roller assembly is an eccentric trunnion pinthat allows the height of the RoundWay linear rollerbearing to be adjusted to compensate for variations inthe mounting surfaces or the build-up of tolerancesbetween component elements. The eccentric trunnionpin can also be used to preload the RoundWay bearingby eliminating internal bearing clearance. After theeccentric trunnion pin has been adjusted it can be heldin place by simply tightening the lock screw.Self-AligningThe RoundWay single and dual bearings are designedwith a built-in self-aligning capability that absorbsmisalignment caused by inaccuracies in carriage orbase machining. The RoundWay single bearing has anadditional built-in self-aligning capability that allows itto absorb misalignment caused by two slightly outof parallel 60 Case LinearRace ways. This feature isrealized when two RoundWay single bearings aremounted on one 60 Case LinearRace and two dualRoundWay bearings are on a parallel 60 CaseLinearRace (Figure 1 on page 105).Page 104©2003 Danaher Motion.
