D10AB Preparations containing sulfur<br />

Preparations, which contain sulfur in addition to a sulfur derivative,<br />

should be classified at the 5th level of the derivative.<br />

The products may contain other active ingredients such as resorcinol.<br />

D10AD Retinoids <strong>for</strong> topical use in acne<br />

D10AE Peroxides<br />

All retinoids <strong>for</strong> topical use should be classified in D10AD.<br />

Combinations with antiinfectives are classified in D10AF.<br />

D10AF Antiinfectives <strong>for</strong> treatment of acne<br />

This group comprises antibiotics <strong>for</strong> topical use with acne as the main<br />

indication.<br />

Other topical antiinfectives are classified in D06 - Antibiotics <strong>and</strong><br />

chemotherapeutics <strong>for</strong> dermatological use.<br />

D10AX Other anti-acne preparations <strong>for</strong> topical use<br />

D10B ANTI-ACNE PREPARATIONS FOR SYSTEMIC USE<br />

This group comprises drugs <strong>for</strong> systemic use in the treatment of acne.<br />

Antibiotics, such as tetracyclines <strong>and</strong> erythromycin, which are also used<br />

<strong>for</strong> the treatment of acne, are classified in group J.<br />

Combinations of e.g. estrogen <strong>and</strong> anti<strong>and</strong>rogen, used <strong>for</strong> the treatment<br />

of acne, are classified in group G03 - Sex hormones <strong>and</strong> modulators of<br />

the genital system.<br />

D10BA Retinoids <strong>for</strong> treatment of acne<br />

Retinoids used in severe psoriasis are classified in D05BB, whereas<br />

alitretinoin used <strong>for</strong> h<strong>and</strong> eczema is classified in D11A.
