B03AE01 - iron, vitamin B12 <strong>and</strong> folic acid<br />

Intrinsic factor <strong>and</strong>/or liver extract are also allowed in this<br />

group<br />

B03AE02 - iron, multivitamins <strong>and</strong> folic acid<br />

B03AE03 - iron <strong>and</strong> multivitamins<br />

B03AE04 - iron, multivitamins <strong>and</strong> minerals<br />

B03AE10 - various combinations<br />

This group comprises some "borderline" combined iron<br />

preparations i.e. preparations with an iron content of<br />

approximately 30 mg Fe 2+ per defined daily dose (<strong>DDD</strong>).<br />

For combinations of iron, vitamin B12 <strong>and</strong> folic acid (B03AE01),<br />

the <strong>DDD</strong>s are based on prophylaxis of iron deficiency anemia <strong>and</strong><br />

folic acid deficiency during pregnancy.<br />

Various combinations, classified in B03AE10, contain very small<br />

amounts of iron. The <strong>DDD</strong>s <strong>for</strong> these combinations are based on<br />

dose recommendations, <strong>and</strong> can be as low as corresponding to 30<br />

mg Fe 2+ .<br />

The <strong>DDD</strong>s <strong>for</strong> iron in other combinations are based on treatment of<br />

iron deficiency anemia, <strong>and</strong> correspond to a <strong>DDD</strong> of 0.2 g Fe 2+ .<br />

B03B VITAMIN B12 AND FOLIC ACID<br />

B03BA Vitamin B12 (cyanocobalamin <strong>and</strong> analogues)<br />

Hydroxocobalamin <strong>for</strong> treatment of neuralgia is classified here.<br />

Combinations with liver extract are classified at separate 5th levels using<br />

the corresponding 50-series. Combinations with folic acid are classified<br />

in this group by using the 50-series.<br />
