P01C AGENTS AGAINST LEISHMANIASIS AND TRYPANOSOMIASIS<br />

P01CA Nitroimidazole derivatives<br />

Nitroimidazole derivatives used <strong>for</strong> trypanosomiasis are classified in this<br />

group. Other nitroimidazole derivatives, see P01AB.<br />

The <strong>DDD</strong> <strong>for</strong> benznidazole is based on the treatment of<br />

trypanosomiasis.<br />

P01CB Antimony compounds<br />

The <strong>DDD</strong>s are expressed as pentavalent antimony (Sb 5+ ) used in the<br />

treatment of visceral leishmaniasis.<br />

P01CC Nitrofuran derivatives<br />

The <strong>DDD</strong>s are based on the treatment of trypanosomiasis.<br />

P01CD Arsenic compounds<br />

The <strong>DDD</strong>s are based on the treatment of trypanosomiasis.<br />

P01CX Other agents against leishmaniasis <strong>and</strong> trypanosomiasis<br />

This group comprises agents, which cannot be classified in the<br />

preceding groups.<br />

The <strong>DDD</strong> <strong>for</strong> pentamidine isethionate is based on amount given per<br />

injection. The <strong>DDD</strong> <strong>for</strong> suramin sodium is based on the average<br />

daily dose <strong>for</strong> the treatment period.<br />
