J04BA Drugs <strong>for</strong> treatment of lepra<br />

Thalidomide, which is also used <strong>for</strong> treatment of lepra, is classified in<br />

L04AX.<br />

J05 ANTIVIRALS FOR SYSTEMIC USE<br />

This group comprises specific antiviral agents, excl. vaccines.<br />

Antivirals <strong>for</strong> dermatological use, see D06BB.<br />

Antivirals <strong>for</strong> ophthalmological use, see S01A - Antiinfectives.<br />

Amantadine, which is also used as an antiviral agent, is classified in<br />

N04BB.<br />

J05A DIRECT ACTING ANTIVIRALS<br />

This group comprises agents acting directly on the virus.<br />

J05AA Thiosemicarbazones<br />

J05AB Nucleosides <strong>and</strong> nucleotides excl. reverse transcriptase inhibitors<br />

The combinations of ribavirin <strong>and</strong> peginterferon alfa-2a or peginterferon<br />

alfa-2b are classified in L03AB.<br />

The <strong>DDD</strong>s <strong>for</strong> aciclovir, valaciclovir <strong>and</strong> famciclovir are based on<br />

the treatment of herpes zoster infections.<br />

The <strong>DDD</strong> <strong>for</strong> ribavirin is based on the treatment of respiratory<br />

syncytial viral (RSV) infections in neonates <strong>and</strong> infants.<br />

The <strong>DDD</strong> <strong>for</strong> ganciclovir is based on the treatment of<br />

cytomegalovirus infections in immunosuppressed patients.<br />

The <strong>DDD</strong> <strong>for</strong> cidofovir is based on the treatment of CMV-retinitis<br />

in AIDS patients.<br />
