RB3removesTRILLheaderRB2RB5TargetMAC-RB3MAC-RB1RB3RB1MAC-TMAC-HDataRB34. TargetreceivesframesMAC-TMAC-HDataThe new TRILL header is in exactly the same format as a legacy Ethernetheader. This allows bridges (switches) that are not aware of TRILL to continueforwarding frames according to the rules they've always used. The sourceaddress used in the TRILL header is the address of the RBridge adding theheader. The destination address is determined by consulting the tables builtby the link-state routing protocol. When a frame with a TRILL header is received by an RBridge, the RBridgeremoves the header and examines the original source and destinationaddresses. It then creates a new TRILL header using the method describedabove and forwards the frame. The last RBridge receiving a frame prior to thedelivery of the frame to either the destination or the local segment that connectsto the destination removes the TRILL header and forwards the frame.RB4RB5RB3(AF VLAN 1)RB1RB2(AF VLAN 2)HostTargetRBTRILLEncapsulationRB BBrocade IP Primer 95
