Chapter 6: The Brocade CLIYou can also configure some settings to multiple interfaces at the same time:Switch(config)#int e 3 to 48Switch(config-mif-3-48)#no spanning-treeSwitch(config-mif-3-48)#In this example, I've disabled spanning tree on interfaces 3 through 48. Spanningtree is still enabled on ports 1 and 2, but under the interface of every portfrom 3 to 48, the command no spanning-tree will be seen. Notice the changein prompt, too. It uses “mif” for “multiple interface config mode.” This is followedby the range of ports you're configuring.PingVery often, you will find it handy to make sure you can reach a certain <strong>IP</strong>address from a switch. For example, it's a good idea when you are copyingdata to or from a TFTP server to first make sure that you can reach that TFTPserver. If you are running Base Layer-3 or Full Routing code, you may need totroubleshoot routing problems. This is where the ping command comes inhandy. In its simplest form, you simply issue the ping command and tell it which <strong>IP</strong>address you want to reach:Switch#ping 10.10.10.1Sending 1, 16-byte ICMP Echo to 10.10.10.1, timeout 5000 msec,TTL 64Type Control-c to abortReply from 10.10.10.1 : bytes=16 time
