PP-64EXTRACTION OF HUMIC ACIDS FROM ACTIVATED SLUDGEVialich E.A., Ilarionov S.A., Degtev M.I., Maksimov A.S.Perm State University, Perm, Russia, eavel@rambler.ruSoil productivity is connected with the content of humic matter in soil. Nowadayshumic acids find a wide application in different areas of human activity. Thesecompounds are applied to produce fertilizers in agriculture; to obtain antifungalagents in medicine; to remediate oily soil and water; to accelerate and improve foodindustry processes (processes of fermentation in cultured dairy products, beer, vine, ets). They are also used in the product of biologically active food additives in diets ofcattle and in industrial technological cycles (mining industry and oil extraction). Thebasic raw materials for extracting humic acids are coal, peat and sapropel. Theseraw materials are formed for a long time and can be used to obtain other products. Therefore, the search for a new source of raw materials to extract humic acids is apressing problem. For extracting humic acids, we have used waste activated sludge from treatmentfacilities. This activated sludge was previously filtered to remove moisture. The humicacids extraction was carried out according to a standard procedure, using a 0.1 nNaOH solution [1]. The alkaline solution was boiled for an hour to increase humicacids output. The obtained humic acids were analysed by: polyacrylamide gelelectrophoresis, infrared spectroscopy and their elemental composition wasdetermined. Humic acids extracted from sod-podzol soil were used as a controlsample. The obtained results demonstrate a close similarity humic acids extracted fromsod-podzol soil and from activated sludge. The humic acids output percentdetermined by gravimetric methods is 50 %. According to the obtained date, one canconclude that the humic acids are similar to typical ones.References:[1]. Orlov D. S.
