Politov<strong>Institute</strong> <strong>of</strong> Solid State Chemistry and Mechanochemistry, Kutateladze, 18,<strong>Novosibirsk</strong>, 630128, <strong>Russia</strong>, e-mail: o.golyazimova@gmail.comEnzyme hydrolysis <strong>of</strong> cellulose is heterogeneous reaction, and to improve thisprocess it is necessary to accelerate mass transfer. To this effect it may be usedultrasound treatment <strong>of</strong> reagents. As it is known, acceleration <strong>of</strong> chemical reactionsin ultrasound field may be because <strong>of</strong> cavitational phenomena. Local growth <strong>of</strong>temperature and pressure, appearance <strong>of</strong> radicals and more rapid mass transfer arein reaction medium because collapses <strong>of</strong> cavitation bubbles take place. Thisphysicochemical phenomena account for enzyme denaturation and decreasing <strong>of</strong>enzyme activity. So it is necessary to study the mechanism <strong>of</strong> influence <strong>of</strong> ultrasoundtreatment on enzyme hydrolysis <strong>of</strong> cellulose.To determine the mechanism <strong>of</strong> ultrasound-assisted acceleration <strong>of</strong> enzymehydrolysis, influence <strong>of</strong> US-treatment on enzyme activity and sorption properties <strong>of</strong>cellulose substrate was studied. Also it was found that preliminary ultrasoundtreatment accelerates this enzymatic reaction. It is interesting that ultrasoundtreatment <strong>of</strong> cellulose in water without enzymes is ineffective, fig. 1 (graph 2).
