Also,don't use the clutch to hold thevehicle on an upgrade. Riding theclutch will cause needless clutchwear and damage.Make sure the vehicle c<strong>om</strong>es to ac<strong>om</strong>plete stop before shifting to R.Shifting to R while the vehicle is stillmoving may damage the transaxle.The shift pattern of the transaxle isconventional, as shown.Depress the clutch pedal all the way downwhile shifting; then release it slowly.A safety feature prevents accidentalshifting fr<strong>om</strong> 5 to R (reverse). The shiftlever must be put in neutral before beingshifted to R.WARNINGSudden Engine-Braking:Shifting down while driving on wet,snowy, or frozen roads, or whiledriving at high speeds causes suddenengine braking, which is dangerous.The sudden change in tire speed couldcause the tires to skid. This could leadto loss of vehicle control and anaccident.
