In Case of an EmergencyFlat TireqJackTo remove the jack1. Turn the knob and remove the cover.WARNINGDriving with a Temporary Spare Tireon Ice or Snow:Driving with a spare tire on the front(driving) wheels on ice or snow isdangerous. Handling will be affected.You could lose control of the vehicleand have an accident. Put the sparetire on the rear axle and move aregular tire to the front.2. Turn the wing bolt counterclockwise.To secure the jackPerform the removal procedure in reverse.qSpare TireYour Mazda has a temporary spare tire.The temporary spare tire is lighter andsmaller than a conventional tire, and isdesigned only for emergency use andshould be used only for VERY shortperiods. Temporary spares shouldNEVER be used for long drives orextended periods.llCAUTIONWhen using the temporary spare tire,driving stability may decreasecompared to when using only theconventional tire.Drive carefully.To avoid damage to the temporaryspare or to the vehicle, observe thefollowing precautions:lDon't exceed 80 km/h (50 mph).lAvoid driving over obstacles.Also, don't drive through anautomatic car wash. This tire'sdiameter is smaller than aconventional tire's, so the groundclearance is reduced about 25 mm(1 in).lDon't use a tire chain on this tirebecause it won't fit properly.lDon't use your temporary spareon any other vehicle; it has beendesigned only for your Mazda.lUse only one temporary spare tireon your vehicle at the same time.7-4
