Driving Your <strong>Mazda</strong>Starting and DrivingNOTEEach tire pressure sensor has a uniqueID signal code. The signal code must beregistered with the TPMS before it canwork. The easiest way to do it is to havean Authorized <strong>Mazda</strong> Dealer changeyour tire and c<strong>om</strong>plete ID signal coderegistration.When having tires changed at anAuthorized <strong>Mazda</strong> DealerTire pressure sensor ID signal coderegistration is c<strong>om</strong>pleted when anAuthorized <strong>Mazda</strong> Dealer changes yourvehicle's tires.When changing tires yourselfIf you or s<strong>om</strong>eone else changes tires, youor s<strong>om</strong>eone else can also undertake thesteps for the TPMS to c<strong>om</strong>plete the IDsignal code registration.1. After tires have been changed, turn theignition switch to the ON position, thenturn it back to the ACC or LOCKposition.2. Wait for about 15 minutes.3. After about 15 minutes, drive thevehicle at a speed of at least 25 km/h(16 mph) for 10 minutes and the tirepressure sensor ID signal code will beregistered aut<strong>om</strong>atically.NOTEIf the vehicle is driven within about 15minutes of changing tires, the tirepressure monitoring system warninglight will flash because the sensor IDsignal code would not have beenregistered. If this happens, park thevehicle for about 15 minutes, afterwhich the sensor ID signal code willregister upon driving the vehicle for 10minutes.Replacing tires and wheelsllCAUTIONWhen replacing/repairing the tires orwheels or both, have the work doneby an Authorized <strong>Mazda</strong> Dealer, orthe tire pressure sensors may bedamaged.The wheels equipped on your <strong>Mazda</strong>are specially designed for installationof the tire pressure sensors. Do notuse non-genuine wheels, otherwise itmay not be possible to install the tirepressure sensors.Be sure to have the tire pressure sensorsinstalled whenever tires or wheels arereplaced.When having a tire or wheel or bothreplaced, the following types of tirepressure sensor installation are possible.l The tire pressure sensor is removedfr<strong>om</strong> the old wheel and installed to thenew one.l The same tire pressure sensor is usedwith the same wheel. Only the tire isreplaced.5-26
