Knowing Your MazdaDoors and LocksTo confirm that all doors and the liftgatehave been locked, press the lock buttonagain within 5 seconds. If they are closedand locked, the horn will sound.NOTE(Without theft-deterrent system)The hazard warning lights will flashonce to indicate that all doors and theliftgate are locked.(With theft-deterrent system)l The hazard warning lights will notflash.l The hazard warning lights only flashwhen the theft deterrent system isarmed, refer to the theft-deterrentsystem (page 3-26).NOTEllAll doors and the liftgate cannot belocked when either front door isopen and the key is in the ignitionswitch.Confirm that all doors and theliftgate are locked visually or audiblyby use of the double click.Unlock buttonTo unlock the driver's door, press theunlock button and the hazard warninglights will flash twice.To unlock all doors and the liftgate, pressthe unlock button again within 5 seconds.NOTE(Without theft-deterrent system)The hazard warning lights will flashtwice to indicate that all doors and theliftgate are unlocked.(With theft-deterrent system)l The hazard warning lights will notflash.l The hazard warning lights only flashwhen the theft deterrent system isturned off, refer to the theft-deterrentsystem (page 3-26).NOTEAfter unlocking with the transmitter, alldoors and the liftgate will automaticallylock if one of the doors or the liftgate isnot opened within about 30 seconds.Panic buttonIf you witness from a distance someoneattempting to break into or damage yourvehicle, pressing the panic button willactivate the vehicle's alarm.NOTEThe panic button will work whetherany door or the liftgate is open orclosed.Turning on the alarmPressing the panic button once will triggerthe alarm for about 2 minutes and 30seconds, and the following will occur:l The horn sounds intermittently.l The hazard warning lights flash.3-4
