Driving Your MazdaWarning/Indicator Lights and Beep SoundsBelt minderThe belt minder is a supplementalwarning to the seat belt warning function.This feature provides additional remindersto the driver that the driver's seat belt isnot fastened by intermittently sounding abeep sound and flashing the seat beltwarning light in the instrument cluster.ConditionThe driver's seat belt is notfastened when the vehiclespeed reaches 8 km/h(5 mph) and about 1 minutehas elapsed since theignition switch was turnedto the ON position.The driver's seat belt isfastened while the warninglight and the beep sound areactivated.The driver's seat belt isfastened before the ignitionswitch is turned to the ONposition.ResultThe warning lightflashes and the beepsound will be heardfor about 6 secondsevery 30 seconds, fora period of about 5minutes.The warning lightturns off and the beepsound stops.The warning light willnot illuminate and thebeep sound will not beheard.NOTEThe belt minder can be deactivated bythe following methods.l (Temporary deactivation)To temporarily deactivate the beltminder, turn the ignition switch tothe ON position, fasten the driver'sseat belt for about 2 seconds orlonger, and then unfasten it within 20seconds. The belt minder will bedeactivated until the ignition switchis turned to the ON position again.l (Long-term deactivation)To deactivate the belt minder overthe long term, consult an AuthorizedMazda Dealer. If the belt minder islong-term deactivated, the beltminder will not activate until it isrestored at the Authorized MazdaDealer.qDoor-Ajar Warning LightThis warning light comes on when anydoor isn't securely closed.5-39
