Maintenance and CareOwner MaintenanceWARNINGXenon Fusion Bulb Replacement:Replacing the xenon fusion bulbsyourself is dangerous. Because thexenon fusion bulbs require highvoltage, you could receive an electricshock if the bulbs are handledincorrectly. Do not replace the xenonfusion bulbs yourself. Consult anAuthorized <strong>Mazda</strong> Dealer when thereplacement is necessary.Handling Halogen Bulbs:When a halogen bulb breaks, it isdangerous. These bulbs containpressurized gas. If one is broken, itwill explode and serious injuries couldbe caused by the flying glass.If the glass portion is touched withbare hands, body oil could cause thebulb to overheat and explode when lit.Never touch the glass portion of thebulb with your bare hands and alwayswear eye protection when handling orworking around halogen bulbs.3. Do the following procedure whenreplacing the left headlight bulb.Turn the screws counterclockwise andremove them and the cover.4. Find the high and low beam bulbs inthe rear of the headlight unit.The outboard bulb is the LOW beam,and the inboard one is the HIGH beam.Refer to Light Bulbs on page 8-42.Children and Halogen Bulbs:Playing with a halogen bulb isdangerous. Serious injuries could becaused by dropping a halogen bulb orbreaking it s<strong>om</strong>e other way.Always keep halogen bulbs out of thereach of children.qReplacing Exterior Light BulbsReplacing a headlight bulb1. Make sure the ignition switch is turnedoff and the headlight switch is off.2. Lift the hood.8-43
