DEPARTMENT OF INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS AND COOPERATIONPART 2: ESTABLISHMENT AND ACCREDITATION OFINTERNATIONAL ORGANISATIONS IN THE RSAIntroductionObligationsThe Act intended to harmonise all diplomatic privileges and immunitiesconferred on offices of International Organisations and its transferredofficials stationed in the Republic of South Africa.The Office of the Chief State Law Adviser (International Law) is thecustodian of a Standardised Host Country Agreement to equalise theregularisation of International Organisations in the Republic.Scope ofApplicationPart 2 of the policy is applicable to the offices and transferred officialsemployed by International Organisations accredited to the Republic of SouthAfrica.South African nationals and South African citizens with dual citizenship aswell as persons with Permanent Resident status in the Republic employed byInternational Organisations as officials qualify only for functional immunityfrom words spoken and acts performed on behalf of the relevant InternationalOrganisation, and no privileges or exemptions.Page 41 of 90
