Repatriation of FundsSpouses authorised to enter into employment will be allowed to repatriate their remunerationfor such employment out of the territory of the Republic of South Africa in accordance withthe conditions laid down for foreign workers in the regulations of the Republic of South Africaand subject to the taxation and social security regimes applicable in the Republic of SouthAfrica.6. Procedures6.1 A request for authorisation to take up employment in the Republic of South Africa must besubmitted through the diplomatic channel to the Department of International Relations andCooperation together with the following details:(i)(ii)(iii)(iv)Place of Employment;Job Title and Job Functions;Copy of Certificate of Identity issued by the Department;Passport Particulars.6.2 A spouse authorised to take up employment:(a) must return the identity document originally issued to her/him by the Department, forcancellation. The certificate of identity will be re-issued to reflect the limited immunityPage 66 of 90
DEPARTMENT OF INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS AND COOPERATIONwhilst employed in the Republic of South Africa;(b) may not, without prior authorisation from the receiving State, accept any otheremployment;(c) in the event of taking up new employment, shall return the existing employment certificatefor cancellation and submit applications for further employment in accordance with theDepartment’s procedural system;(d) must, prior to his/her final departure from the Republic of South Africa return thecertificate of employment authorisation to the Department, for cancellation;(e) must, without expense to the Government of the Republic of South Africa, depart from theRepublic of South Africa, on or before the date of expiry of the official of the InternationalOrganisation's tour of duty as a foreign representative / transferred official or alternativelyapply for the relevant residence permit in accordance with the relevant domestic law.If the arrangements set out above are acceptable to the (International Organisation) it is suggested thatthis Note and the reply to that effect will place on record the understanding between the Department ofInternational Relations and Cooperation of the Republic of South Africa and the (InternationalOrigination’s) reply, which will come into effect on the date of the Note in reply.Page 67 of 90
