A spouse authorised to take up employment:(a) must return <strong>the</strong> identity document originally issued to her/him by <strong>the</strong> Department, forcancellati<strong>on</strong>. The certificate <strong>of</strong> identity will be re-issued to reflect that <strong>the</strong> spouse whoengages in pr<strong>of</strong>essi<strong>on</strong>al services for remunerati<strong>on</strong> outside <strong>the</strong> missi<strong>on</strong> will by virtue <strong>of</strong>Article 31.1(c) <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Diplomatic</strong> C<strong>on</strong>venti<strong>on</strong> automatically not enjoy immunity from <strong>the</strong>civil <strong>and</strong> administrative jurisdicti<strong>on</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> receiving State;(b) may not, without prior authorisati<strong>on</strong> from <strong>the</strong> Department <strong>of</strong> Internati<strong>on</strong>al Relati<strong>on</strong>s <strong>and</strong>Cooperati<strong>on</strong>, accept any o<strong>the</strong>r employment;(c) in <strong>the</strong> event <strong>of</strong> taking up new employment in <strong>the</strong> receiving State, must return <strong>the</strong> existingemployment certificate for cancellati<strong>on</strong> <strong>and</strong> submit applicati<strong>on</strong>s for fur<strong>the</strong>r employment inaccordance with <strong>the</strong> procedures set out herein;(d) must, prior to his/her final departure from <strong>the</strong> Republic <strong>of</strong> South Africa, return <strong>the</strong>certificate <strong>of</strong> employment authorisati<strong>on</strong> to <strong>the</strong> Department for cancellati<strong>on</strong>;(e) must, without expenses to <strong>the</strong> Government <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Republic <strong>of</strong> South Africa, depart from <strong>the</strong>Republic <strong>of</strong> South Africa <strong>on</strong> or before <strong>the</strong> date <strong>of</strong> expiry <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> employee <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> SendingState’s tour <strong>of</strong> duty as a foreign representative or alternatively apply for <strong>the</strong> relevantresidence permit in accordance with <strong>the</strong> relevant domestic law.If <strong>the</strong> arrangements set out above are acceptable to <strong>the</strong> Embassy / High Commissi<strong>on</strong> <strong>of</strong> ……….. it isrequested that this be c<strong>on</strong>firmed via <strong>Diplomatic</strong> Note, which also sets <strong>the</strong> procedures to be followed inPage 61 <strong>of</strong> 90
