In the meantime certain representations were received expressing concern on proposedofficial amendments to the Constitution (One Hundred and Third Amendment) Bill, 2004.These representations were examined in consultation with the Ministry of Law and Justice.After consideration of representations notice for moving official amendments, and forconsideration and passing of these Bills, was once again given to the Lok Sabha onth05.02.2009. However, with the dissolution of the 14 Lok Sabha, this notice could not betaken up and both these Bills together with the official amendments lapsed.The petitioners in the Bal Patil case had filed a review petition in the Supreme Court. In themeantime, in September, 2010, this stands referred to a three judge bench of the SupremeCourt. All these legal issues are at present under examination.41
