CHAPTER 1INTRODUCTIONth1.1 The Ministry of Minority Affairs was created on 29 January, 2006 to ensure a morefocused approach towards issues relating to the minorities and to facilitate the formulationof overall policy and planning, coordination, evaluation and review of the regulatoryframework and development programmes for the benefit of the minority communities.1.2 Shri Salman Khurshid the Minister of Law & Justice holds additional charge of theoffice of the Minister of Minority Affairs. Shri Vincent H. Pala the Minister of State in theMinistry of Minority Affairs holds additional charge of the office of the Minister of State in theMinistry of Water Resources. The Secretary of the Ministry is assisted by three JointSecretaries and a Joint Secretary & Financial Adviser (additional charge). The Ministry has asanctioned strength of 93 Officers/Staff. A statement indicating the sanctioned strength andmen in position in the Ministry is at Annexure-I.
