All full-timedegree candidates are eligible for financial aid in the form of loans, scholarships, andemployment. In order to be considered for aid, U.S. citizens must complete the FreeApplication for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online at www.fafsa.ed.gov. Paper versionsare available at public libraries around the country. International students must completean International Student Financial Aid Application, available from the School. All studentsmust also complete the School of Nursing Financial Aid Application, which can beobtained from the School. Federal guidelines and availability of funds change each year;therefore, instructions are revised every November for the following year. All financialinformation and files are kept strictly confidential.financial support and visa processfor international studentsInternational students are offered admission without regard to finances. To be consideredfor financial aid, international students must complete two applications, the InternationalStudent Financial Aid Application and the School of Nursing Financial AidApplication. Both are available from the School’s Financial Aid Office. All students whodemonstrate financial need will be awarded scholarships to cover a portion of theirtuition.U.S. immigration regulations require that the <strong>University</strong> have proof of financial supportbefore an I20 can be issued. Students are required to provide evidence of sufficientfunding to cover the first year’s expenses and assurance of similar funding for the durationof the program. If additional family members are coming to the United States,financial support is required for their health insurance and living expenses. More informationis available through the School of Nursing Financial Aid Office and <strong>Yale</strong>’sOffice of International Students and Scholars, which can be accessed online atwww.oiss.yale.edu.Types of AidA small group of Dean’s Scholars may be selected annually. Each scholar receives a scholarshipof $2,500 and participates in a leadership development program directed by thedean. In addition, an allowance of $500 is available for discretionary use in support of thescholar’s professional development or leadership project. This is a merit-based scholarshipand no statement of financial need is required. Eligibility criteria are established inthe spring of each year for the following year’s scholars.
