Oncompletion of the Gerontological Nurse Practitioner track, students are eligible forGNP Certification through the American Nurses’ Credentialing Center.In the first year of study, the focus is on history taking, physical assessment, ambulatorydiagnostics, differential diagnosis, and management of common gerontologicalproblems across a variety of health care settings. Courses in gerontology, research, andstatistics are also featured in the first year. Clinical conferences focus on acclimating thestudent to the role of gerontological nurse practitioner.
