Centers 47Exploratory Center for Self-Management Interventionsfor At-Risk PopulationsSelf-management encompasses a broad range of health, lifestyle, behavioral, and selfassessmentand treatment activities practiced by individuals and families with the supportof others, often nurses. The focus of the center is the understanding, development, andtesting of self-management interventions for people at high risk for developing healthproblems through risky behaviors, vulnerability, or the presence of disease or disability.The center aims to rapidly advance the science of self and family management throughinterdisciplinary research, awarding of pilot funds, development of new investigators inthe field, and collaboration among center investigators from the School and across thecampus.
