CHAPTER 6POLICE HOUSINGState wise Data On:• Family quarters available• Family quarters Constructed• <strong>Police</strong> Housing Corporations• <strong>Police</strong> Office BuildingsIntroductionProviding decent <strong>and</strong> adequate number <strong>of</strong>houses to police personnel has remained themain concern <strong>of</strong> various <strong>Police</strong> Commissionsset up by Government <strong>of</strong> India. The National<strong>Police</strong> Commission <strong>and</strong> the PadmanabhaiahCommittee have recommended to provide thefamily accommodation to both the Gazetted<strong>and</strong> Non-Gazetted <strong>of</strong>ficers. The ReviewCommittee <strong>of</strong> MHA, headed by the UnionHome Secretary, has also endorsed in its 49point recommendations to provide 100%accommodation to <strong>Police</strong> Personnel as quotedbelow:“The provision <strong>of</strong> 100% familyaccommodation for all non gazetted rankwith some barrack accommodation for thoseconstables who come from M<strong>of</strong>fusil to districtheadquarters is a must”.This chapter provides the information onFamily Quarters available for Gazetted <strong>Police</strong>Officers, Inspector to Assistant Sub Inspector<strong>of</strong> <strong>Police</strong> (ASI), Head constables, Constables.Family quarter constructed for UpperSubordinate <strong>and</strong> lower Subordinate during theyear. Sub-Inspector <strong>and</strong> 4,64,975for Head Constables <strong>and</strong> Constables in theState <strong>Police</strong> Forces as on 01.01.<strong>2012</strong> as shownin the table below.
