Several species of Ponto-Caspian gobieshave proven as the most capable invaders. Among them, the round goby(Neogobius melanosomus) is probably the most famous, reaching as far as theNorth American Great Lakes. Although the human driven vectors are important forthe long distance invasions, the capability of the round goby to sustain in riverinehabitats is crucial for its successful raid. We investigated a population of the roundgoby located in the Veleka River, close to its mouth in the Black Sea. Weperformed transect visual census via skin diving, considering density, sizestructure, substratum and depth associations of the round goby. Той е с неотропичен произход. Понастоящем има почтикосмополитно разпространение. Гостоприемници на вида са различни видовепапрати. Размножава се изключително анолоциклично. В районите с умеренклимат се среща в оранжерийни условия, където нанася щети подекоративните растения. През 2009 г. са намерени гъсти колонии от безкрилиживораждащи женски и ларви по Asplenium nidus L. в оранжерия във Варна.По листата на нападнатите растения са наблюдавани деформации. Idiopterusnephrelepidis е размножаван успешно в лабораторни условия в продължениена четири месеца.131
