Предвидените дейности за втората годинавключват обновяване на електронно-микроскопското оборудване, полевитестанции, каталогизиране на научните колекции и пилотни изследвания всъздадените лаборатории.ТНЕ PROJECT “DEVELOPMENT OF NATIONAL CENTRE OFEXCELLENCE IN BIODIVERSITY AND ECOSYSTEM RESEARCH –CEBDER”B.B. Georgiev, G.P. Vasileva, S. Lazarova, E. SemerdjievaCentral Laboratory of General Ecology, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences,2 Gagarin Street, 1113 Sofia, BulgariaThe project is carried out by a consortium of seven institutes of the BulgarianAcademy of Sciences (Central Laboratory of General Ecology, Institute of Botany,Institute of Zoology, National Museum of Natural History, Forest ResearchInstitute, Institute of Oceanology – Varna and Institute of Experimental Pathologyand Parasitology) and three universities (University of Sofia “St KlimentOhridski”, Agricultural University – Plovdiv and Trakia University – StaraZagora). During the first year (2009-2010), the project was funded by the NationalScience Fund with one million Leva. The main efforts were directed to thedevelopment of the research infrastructure, especially its components of nationalimportance. New laboratories of molecular taxonomy and ecology were created atthe Institute of Zoology and the Institute of Oceanology; the existing molecularlaboratories at the Central Laboratory of General Ecology and the Institute ofBotany were upgraded, including by purchasing a sequences. A course in methodsof molecular taxonomy and ecology was carried out and 30 young researchers weretrained. Two other new laboratories, for heavy metal analysis at the ForestResearch Institute and for animal taxonomy at the Trakia University, wereequipped. The infrastructure for storing national biodiversity collections wasupgraded: the herbaria of the University of Sofia and the Agricultural Universityand the zoological collections at the Institute of Zoology and National Museum ofNatural History. Three young researchers from various institutes (Institute ofBotany, National Museum of Natural History and University of Sofia) specialisedin leading European laboratories. For the second year, we envisage upgrading ofthe electron-microscopy equipment, field stations, cataloguing of biodiversitycollections and pilot studies in the new laboratories.78
