I I4MEDITATIONhaven't got the time, but remember you have to die foryourself; no one else will do it forIt is said that those who do not do Bhajan will neverbe free from misery: lethargy will constantly tormentthem. They are always lazy. When does this procrastinationcome and when does it go? For the negative workhe is all attentiveness; while waiting on the Naam, heslumbers. To gratify the senses, he is wide awake andready-even at midnight. But for Bhajan . . . "not now,we will see tomorrow." This is mainly due to his regularassociation with outer enjoyments; he has inclinationtoward them. He has done little or no Bhajan to speak of,has not drunk deep enough to enjoy its sweet nectar, andtherefore feels disinclined. With lethargy, procrastina-66tion becomes the thief of time . . . Not just now, waitawhile . . . we will do it tonight, no, tomorrow morning. . . let us just finish this work, and then . . ." The tragicresult? If you put off the moment, the other momentwhich one imagines will be more opportune, will nevercome. If one becomes lazy, then laziness will induce sleep.If your meditation is not fruitful, how will you knowwhat is inside? Even when at initiation through the mercyof the Master something is seen within, yet a manwill start thinking it is all imagination. This is how themind hoodwinks us, with the result that the soul recedesinto the enjoyments and scatters its attenti~n.'~Whatever the matter, however preoccupied with outerduties, the disciple must find some time every day-beit ever so little, for Bhajan.
