Some have called this stage thebe-all and end-all, but they still linger at the outskirts ofgrosser matter and in the stronghold of the finer matter.It is here that the help of some competent body is neededto extricate the devotees from the iron-hold of the subtlematter. That somebody should be the man who has gonethrough the different stages of spiritual development andtravelled to the Region of Pure Spirit, the Sat Naam, farbeyond the hold of matter.'3When a Guru initiates a disciple on this path, he willnot leave him until he has taken him to the lap of SatPurush, God in Ha true form. After that the Sat Purushwill take him to Alakh, Agam and Anami, stages of imperceptible,inconceivable and nameless God. A Guru'sduty is very exacting. In truth, a Guru is God Himself.In whichever pole God has manifested Himself, that poleis known as Sadhu, Sant or Mahatma, or Master. Henever says, "I am the doer," but always refers to the willof God.44 It is God's law that nobody can reach Him exceptthrough a Master Soul. This is what is given out byalmost all the Saints who came so far.4"Positive and Negative Powers are the two phases ofAbsolute, deriving power from Him.
