Similarly, the spiritual treasures achievedby the devotee need extra care and vigilance to be hiddenfrom others so that the same may remain safe and wellguarded-justas a saplin~ is eaten away bv a passinggoat, but when it has grown into a stalwart tree, an elephantcannot uproot it. Again, the adverse thoughts ofothers do affect the disciple. Moreover, others growingjealous will not be able to give him or her proper guidance.The laws of the physical plane demand that eachmust behave soberly and must not exhibit his or her extraordinaryqualities which relate to higher planes, andas such the disciplined devotee is required to cultivatetolerance and humility. You can see that one narratinghis or her personal experiences many a time becomeselated, thus invites the ego to take the upper hand, andpride has its fall as a result. On these basic grounds, theSaints made a Law to be strictly observed by one and allthat the inner experiences must not be divulged, exceptto the Master who is competent to give proper guidanceon the Way.lfi8Moreover, one should be very cautious to avoid fallinginto carnal enjoyments as that darkens the innervision.169
