THE WORDS OF THE MASTER ' 37the command of the Master may be, it must be followedwith unswerving zeal, so that you will be able to takehold of the Shabd, which will lead you back to your nativehome.133 Love of God means implicit obedience toHim.134The words of the Master cannot be detached from theMaster. It is from the abundance of heart that the tonguespeaks. The Master is embedded in the Word and hiswords are expressions of what is in him; that is, Word,Life-impulse, and Power. How then can the two beseparated from each other? His words undoubtablypierce through the hearts of the aspirants and none othercan know the sweet pangs from which they suffer.135It is absolutely necessary to serve the will of the Master,for in doing so lies the good of the disciple. Manypeople indeed meet the Satguru, but that is not enough.For salvation, one has to obey him in thought, word anddeed.13' He who obeys the Guru's every word will realizethe Lord. But we choose to modify his commandmentsto our own way of thinking.13'Some people hear in one ear and it goes out throughthe other. Other people hear and give out through theirmouth, that they know so much. Both of these things donot give you any real benefit, unless that very thing formsa part and parcel of your life. The food that is digestedgives you strength; otherwise, it will result in diseases,such as vanity and other things.138 We simply make anouter show of obeying the Master's orders but do notlive up to them. Even in His absence, orders are orders.The very order is the Guru, is the Master. Those who
