This is the be-all and end-all of prayer.""Where allhuman efforts fail, prayer succeed^.^'^The Commitment : Responsibility of InitiationTHE MASTER HAS to do his job and the initiates theirown: to push on with full confidence in the Master.There are too many leaners on idealistic imaginationamong the initiates and too few who practice. The meditationperiod should not be one of pretty emotional feelingsonly. The initiates should surrender their all to theMaster and be willing to die and give up their life forGod. "Learn to die so that you may begin to live." TheMaster knows how to deai best with it. Ours is to act wellin the living present, as enjoined by the Master. If we actup to his commandments, he will never forsake us tillthe end of the world. But we feel, on the contrary, thatafter the Initiation we are absolved from all obligations,and are free to do what we may by simply putting ourtrust in His Grace. This attitude is a great stumblingblock on the path and retards all real progress. It does notpaj in the least to purposely close our eyes in self-complacencyto the stern reality of the situation that placcsrights and obligations in equal proportion on each andevery individual. We cannot pick and choose, as we maylike. We must therefore guard against such a frustrated
