WHITE SPACES INNOVATION IN SWEDENentrant bus<strong>in</strong>esses as well as more established firms <strong>in</strong> eco-<strong>in</strong>novation value cha<strong>in</strong>s.Creat<strong>in</strong>g arenas <strong>for</strong> knowledge transfer conferences and workshops around these andrelated issues is a key function of SBHUB. The shared <strong>in</strong>terest (with „Tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g Regions‟)and understand<strong>in</strong>g of the imperative to improve systems management, <strong>in</strong>tegrationand resilience is the ma<strong>in</strong> field requir<strong>in</strong>g advanced knowledge shar<strong>in</strong>g and practical<strong>in</strong>novation. A particular <strong>in</strong>terest focuses on hospitals and improv<strong>in</strong>g their logistics,energy and waste-recycl<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> the SymbioCare project be<strong>in</strong>g conducted with the RegionSkåne health authority.Figure 3.8 Häls<strong>in</strong>gborg Piped BiofertilizerTra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g RegionsThis emergent cluster <strong>in</strong>itiative was founded <strong>in</strong> December 2010; accord<strong>in</strong>gly this accountis programmatic rather than evaluative. It plans an Open Arena, run by logisticsspecialist company TR International charged with identification of needs, solutions,R&D and <strong>policy</strong> expertise and targets <strong>for</strong> enhanc<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong>frastructure system resilience <strong>in</strong>Skåne, <strong>Sweden</strong>, the Öresund region and <strong>in</strong>ternationally, especially where Swedish <strong>in</strong>terests(e.g. bus<strong>in</strong>ess) and capabilities, (e.g. disaster management) are <strong>in</strong>volved. The <strong>in</strong>creas<strong>in</strong>gfrequency of disasters <strong>in</strong> recent years and the scale of damage they br<strong>in</strong>g, poseconsiderable challenges regard<strong>in</strong>g the development of viable and effective approachesto help mitigate the impacts upon the population and the environment. The new threatsfaced, from develop<strong>in</strong>g technologies, globalisation, and political tensions are <strong>in</strong>creas<strong>in</strong>g.These, together with the risks associated with climate change and threats to collectivesafety br<strong>in</strong>g about a need <strong>for</strong> a coord<strong>in</strong>ated approach to research and <strong>in</strong>ternational collaborationon emergency management.
