3 .1 | Insulated Concrete Forms (ICF)the popularity of this product.Code Approval: Depending on the location of the project,a licensed architect or engineer may need to approvethe project design before construction. ICF walls andfoundations should be inspected according to municipalrequirements.Affordability: ICF walls and foundations are moreexpensive than traditional wood framing. The materialcost (for the forms) ranges from $1.75 to $3.50 per squarefoot. This does not include the cost for bracing, rebar, andconcrete (which currently is approximately $100 per cubicyard). Additional labor costs may occur, depending onthe installation contractor. Also, there may be additionallabor costs for mechanical, electrical, plumbing, framing,and finishing contractors if they are unfamiliar with theproduct and have to change their methods of workingto accommodate the ICF walls.
