12 APENDIX12.1 IntroductionThis section contains explanations related to the safe use of installedauxiliary equipment <strong>and</strong> the use of the gyrocopter.12.2 Minimum equipmentThe legal documents of the gyrocopter (Airworthiness certificate,registration, radio license,…..) must always be on board.Personal pilot equipment may include headset with microphone, headcover (during open operation) <strong>and</strong> sun glasses.Proper clothing during winter operation with open cabin or closed cabinwithout cabin heat must be considered.It is recommended to wear an apropriate helmet during operation withopen cabin. This counts for the pilot <strong>and</strong> for the passenger/co-pilot.The gyrocopter equipment includes: Safety belts (2 x 4- point belt systems) Type label Data label <strong>and</strong> checklist (these must be mounted clearly visible)To be carried on board: <strong>Flight</strong> manual Registration certificate Proof or insurance Noise certificate <strong>Flight</strong> log book Weight <strong>and</strong> balance report (valid for 48 months) Avionic-inspection protocol (valid for 12 / 24 months) Airworthiness certificate<strong>Flight</strong> <strong>and</strong> operation manual G 4-2 <strong>Rev</strong>ision <strong>3.0</strong> – 09.04.2013 102
Minimum instrumentation required by law in Germany:1 airspeed indicator1 altimeter1 compassEngine instruments1 rotor RPM gauge1 fuel gaugeG 4-2 is equipped with a mini glass cockpit (EMSIS) or a glass cockpit(NESIS II) in the st<strong>and</strong>ard configuration. It contains the minimumrequired instrumentation by law <strong>and</strong> much more.
