1 GENERAL1.1 IntroductionThis manual contains information which is necessary to operate thegyrocopter efficiently <strong>and</strong> safely according to German regulations, aswell as information from the manufacturer.The maintenance manual contains all the necessary information,instructions <strong>and</strong> documents required for proper maintenance.To fly this gyrocopter, a pilot´s license according to the rules <strong>and</strong>regulations of the country it is to be flown in is required. Before flight, itis important that the pilot be instructed about the features <strong>and</strong>characteristics of the gyrocopter during a thorough familiarization in anauthorized flight school.The registration of the gyrocopter is obligatory in almost all countries. Itis the responsibility of the operator to get <strong>and</strong> follow the valid rules inthe country it is intended to fly in.Further laws, like the acquisition of third-party liability insurance are tobe observed as well.It is obligatory to read the entire manual <strong>and</strong> all documents provided bythe manufacturer to get accustomed with every detail of the gyrocopter<strong>and</strong> the installed equipment.1.2 Registration <strong>and</strong> certification basisThe statutory basis for the operation of an ultra-light gyrocopter (ULG) isregulated in air traffic laws. Details are to be obtained from associateddocuments. All rules <strong>and</strong> regulations contained in these documentsmust be obeyed.The G 4-2 is constructed, manufactured <strong>and</strong> tested according to the„construction regulations for ultra-light gyrocopters“ (BUT 2001) <strong>and</strong> NflII 13/09 dated 12.02.2009 <strong>and</strong> is registered under the identificationnumber 61218 by the responsible German authority (DAeC).1.3 Performance data <strong>and</strong> operating procedureThe performance data <strong>and</strong> operating procedures mentioned in thismanual have been determined during the type certification process ofthis gyrocopter.1.4 Warnings <strong>and</strong> precautionsThe following definitions are used for warnings, precautions <strong>and</strong> notesin this manual:<strong>Flight</strong> <strong>and</strong> operation manual G 4-2 <strong>Rev</strong>ision <strong>3.0</strong> – 09.04.2013 8
