11.2 RepairsThe operator of the gyrocopter must insure that only original parts areexchanged <strong>and</strong> documented by an authorized work shop afterconsulting the manufacturer. Only original spare parts may be used.Malfunctions, which may have been caused by weaknesses inconstruction, are to be reported to the manufacturer by the enclosedform. No welding on the frame is permitted without authorization of themanufacturer.Note: Repairs may onle be carried out by authorized personell by themanufacturer. Only original spare parts may be used. Exchanging partsrequire the written consent of the manufacturer.11.3 Ground h<strong>and</strong>ling <strong>and</strong> road transportationExperience has shown that aircrafts are generally exposed to higherstress on the ground than in the air. Through, this higher stress on theground it is more likely to cause severe damage to the aircraft <strong>and</strong>reduce flight safety. This is especially the case with lightly built ULs. Thegyrocopter’s frame is exposed to extreme stress by high G-forcesthrough hard l<strong>and</strong>ings <strong>and</strong> taxying on uneven terrain <strong>and</strong> pot holes. Forthis reason, unnecessary road transport should be avoided.For transportation, drain the fuel tanks <strong>and</strong> wrap the entire gyrocopter(e.g. with bubble wrap) to keep it safe. The rotor blades must bepackaged with special care because the smallest damage alredy forcesthe replacement of the entire rotor system.In case of road transport on an open trailer the rotor system must beremoved as instructed in section 3.21 <strong>and</strong> all parts must be secured tothe trailer by belts.Attention: in case of transport on an open trailer the rotor system must beremoved from the rotor head. Follow the instructions in section 3.21 (how toh<strong>and</strong>le the rotor system). If the rotor system is mish<strong>and</strong>led it may bedamaged irreparably.The gyrocopter manufacturer also offers enclosed trailers in which therotor may be left installed during the transportation.
