6.5 UndercarriageThe undercarriage is made up of the main l<str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g>ing gear with tire size4.00-6“<str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> the nose wheel with tire size 3.50-4“.The main l<str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g>ing gear c<strong>on</strong>sists of a fiber reinforced composite strut,which is attached to the frame at its middle. The tips carry the mainwheels, which are equipped with hydraulic brakes.The nose wheel is held inside a stainless steel fork. The fork may berotated inside a steel holder welded in the fr<strong>on</strong>t part of the steel frame.The nose gear c<strong>on</strong>structi<strong>on</strong> is c<strong>on</strong>nected through rods to the pedals.The main l<str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g>ing gear <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> the nose wheel are maintenance-free.The main wheel bearings are to be checked <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> the fr<strong>on</strong>t wheel shaftmay be greased as a part of the regular maintenance. The tires must bechanged when in bad c<strong>on</strong>diti<strong>on</strong> (worn-down tread or visible damage).The main wheel bolts <strong>on</strong> the strut must be checked prior to every flight.6.6 Seats <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> seat beltsAll seats are made of carb<strong>on</strong> fiber composite. They are appropriately reenforced<str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> are attached to the frame. Thus, the pilot’s mass isdirectly loaded <strong>on</strong> the frame.The gyrocopter must be flown from the fr<strong>on</strong>t seat <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> the seat belts inthe back must be fastened so they cannot catch <strong>on</strong> the co-pilot´s stick(if installed) in case that the rear seat is not occupied.Both seats are equipped with 4-point seat belts which are attacheddirectly to the frame.6.7 Luggage compartmentsWarning: Hard or sharp edged objects may damage the structure ofthe gyrocopter in turbulent c<strong>on</strong>diti<strong>on</strong>s.
