4 FLIGHT PERFORMANCE4.1 IntroductionThe following data has been collected during test flights. It is only validwhen the gyrocopter, rotor, propeller <strong>and</strong> engine are in an immaculatecondition, the propeller <strong>and</strong> the rotor are clean <strong>and</strong> the pilot disposesover average flying skills.The performances listed here are under st<strong>and</strong>ard conditions (sea level,1013 mbar, 15 °C, no wind, take-off weight 450 kg, <strong>and</strong> smooth runwaywith short turf in good condition). 4.3 Influence of rain & insects on flight performanceIn case of a constant loss of power in horizontal flight at constant speed,a dirty rotor (for e.g. because of insects) may be the reason. This maygo so far, that horizontal flight is no longer possible, even with fullengine power. For this reason, the rotor is always to be kept clean.The gyrocopter G 4-2 is designed for VFR flights only. However, flyingthrough heavy rain, moisture may reduce <strong>and</strong> performance performancebeside the possibility that electronic equipment may suffer somedamage.4.4 Demonstrated maximum crosswind componentThe maximum demonstrated crosswind is 35 km/h.4.5 Noise dataG 4-2 complies with the noise abundance regulations in Germany,which limit a maximum of 68 dB(A) at the time of its certification.4.6 Tire pressureMain l<strong>and</strong>ing gearNose wheel<strong>3.0</strong> Bar2.5 Bar4.7 Service ceilingThe service ceiling defines the altitude, at which the maximum rate ofclimb of an aircraft is 0.5 m/s with maximum continuous engine power<strong>and</strong> MTOW.The service ceiling with Rotax 912 ULS is 8.000 ft. (approx. 2450 m)The service ceiling with Rotax 914 UL is 10.000 ft. (approx. 3050 m)The service ceiling with Rotax 912 ULS is 12.000 ft. (approx. 3660 m)4.8 Bolt tightening torquesAll bolts <strong>and</strong> nuts are to be tightened to the torques indicated in themaintenance manual. In case of doubts, the mechanic or maintenancecompany must contact the manufacturer of the gyrocopter.
