3.21.3 Assembling the rotor system1. The rotor blades <strong>and</strong> the rotor hub are labeled with red <strong>and</strong>black dots.2. Carefully position the first rotor blade with the appropriatemarking in the correct side of the rotor hub with the flat sidefacing down. Gently wiggle the blade up <strong>and</strong> down while doingso to avoid canting the blade.3. Now carefully <strong>and</strong> forceless, slide the screws in from the topwhile gently wiggling the blade up <strong>and</strong> down.4. Slide the washers onto the screws <strong>and</strong> screw the locknuts ontightening them lightly.5. Afterwards tighten all screws with a torque wrench starting fromthe inside <strong>and</strong> finishing with the outer one.6. Repeat steps 2 - 5 for the second rotor blade.Warning: A life threatening condition may arise, if the rotorsystem ismish<strong>and</strong>led.Note: In case the rotor system is mish<strong>and</strong>led, all warranties for therotor system are void!3.21.4 Installing the rotor1. The gyrocopter must be secured against rolling off with theparking brake on plain ground <strong>and</strong> the titer tower centeredlengthwise.2. Check mounting direction: The titer tower <strong>and</strong> rotor hub are eachmarked with colored dots on both sides.3. Lift the rotor blade with an instructed person (one at the back<strong>and</strong> one just behind the rotor hub in flight direction).4. Bring the rotor system closer to the gyrocopter from one side,paying attention not to damage the propeller or the empennage.St<strong>and</strong>ing on a ladder, settle the rotor hub centered into the titertower.<strong>Flight</strong> <strong>and</strong> operation manual G 4-2 <strong>Rev</strong>ision <strong>3.0</strong> – 09.04.2013 42
5. The second person may now release the rotor system.6. Push the main bolt back in from either side with the flat h<strong>and</strong>.7. Check mounting direction: The titer tower <strong>and</strong> rotor hub are eachengraved with corresponding letters on both sides.8. If the main bolt cannot be pushed in, the rotor is to be gentlywobbled lengthwise with the other h<strong>and</strong>.9. Put on the washer <strong>and</strong> tighten the crown nut h<strong>and</strong> tight, thensecure it with the safety split pin.
