ِِِ<strong>Backbiting</strong> – A Cancer in our Society 1159. Whoever says, ‘Violence is better than becoming a scholar.’ Such a person is classifiedas a Kāfir. (Fatāwā ‘Ālamgīrī, vol. 2, pp. 271)10. Remember! Only the Sunnī scholars of Aĥl-e-Sunnat are to be respected. As far asthe scholars of other deviant sects are concerned, you should alienate yourself evenfrom their shadows. Respecting them is strictly forbidden. To listen to their sermons,or to read their books or to sit in their company are all prohibited acts and are alethal poison for one’s faith.I wish I were a treeDear <strong><strong>Islami</strong>c</strong> brothers! It is very necessary to refrain from disrespecting the <strong><strong>Islami</strong>c</strong>scholars. Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ‏ forbid, if we make any such mistake and end up losing our faith,then I swear by Allah ‏,عَزَّوَجَلَّ‏ we will be disgraced. On the Day of Judgment, the disbelieverswill be dragged by their faces and shoved into the Hellfire where they will be tormentedeternally. May Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ‏ protect us from the ill-use of our tongue and preserve ourfaith.The blessed companions ال م َ were always fearful about the accountability in thegrave and the Hereafter. Sometimes overwhelmed by fear they would say: ‘I wish that Ihad not been sent to this world, as a human, because as a human we are faced withpreserving our faith and we have to be accountable in the grave and on the Day ofJudgment.’ر‎5َ‎ لهُ‏ تَعَالىٰ‏ ‏َعنْ‏ ‏ُهOnce Sayyidunā Abū Dardā ر‎5َ‎ االلهُ‏ تَعَالىٰ‏ عَنْهُ‏ َ was overtaken by the fear of Allah ‏,عَزَّوَجَلَّ‏ he said:‘If you knew what will come to pass after your death, you would give up your favouritefoods and drinks, leave your shaded homes, turn towards the wilderness and spend allyour life weeping and crying.’ Then he ر‎5َ‎ االلهُ‏ تَعَالىٰ‏ عَنْهُ‏ َ added, ‘I wish I were a tree, which wascut down.’ (Az-Zuĥd, pp. 162, Raqm 740)Mayn bajāye insān kay koī paudā ĥotā yāNakhl ban kay Ṭaybaĥ kay bāgh mayn kĥařā ĥotāNot a man, but a tree had I beenAs a palm tree, in the garden of Madīnaĥ, standing had I been
