‏ِه ‏َم ‏ُة48 Backbiting – A Cancer in our Societyfact, it is classified as one of the major sins. Read about the punishments and tormentsassociated with fornication and tremble with the fear. Try to imagine the gravity of thesepunishments as you read them and bear in mind that this is the punishment forfornication. The torments for backbiting would be much more severe. Just imagine andlet it be an admonition for you.Two snakes will pluck and eatSayyidunā Masrūq الۡ‏ narrated, ‘Whoever engages in stealing, drinking(alcohol), or Zinā; when he dies, two snakes will be assigned on him, who will keepplucking away his flesh and eating it.’ (Sharḥ-uṣ-Ṣudūr, pp. 172)قُدُّو ۡ س الل عَ‏ لَيْهِ‏ رَ‏ ‏ْحChests of HellIt is relayed that some people in Hell will be confined in chests made of fire. When theyrequest for relief, their chests will be opened and the flames will reach the people of Hell,who will then proclaim simultaneously, ‘O Allah ‏!عَزَّوَجَلَّ‏ Disgrace these people in the chests.They controlled the women’s private parts through Ḥarām means.’ (Baḥr-ud-Dumū', pp. 168)Deprived of an entry into ParadiseOn page 229 of ‘Ānsūon kā Daryā’ [the 300-page publication of Maktaba-tul-Madīnaĥ,the publishing department of Dawat-e-Islami], it is cited, ‘When Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ‏ createdParadise, He عَزَّوَجَلَّ‏ ordered it to converse and it claimed, ‘Whoever enters within me wouldbe triumphant.’ To that Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ‏ replied, ‘I swear by My Reverence and Exaltednessthat eight types of people will not enter within you:1.
