‏ِه ‏ُةِّۡ ِۡۡٓ302 Backbiting – A Cancer in our SocietyḤujjat-ul-Islam Shaykh Sayyidunā Imām Muhammad Ghazālī وَا ‏ِلى says: Oneday, in a year of drought in Madīnaĥ, the people got out along withShaykh Sayyidunā ‘Abdullāĥ Bin Mubārak رَحمْ‏ َ ةُ‏ االلهُ‏ for offering Ṣalāt-ul-Istisqā (i.e.Ṣalāĥ offered for rainfall). Everyone supplicated, with tears in their eyes, but none of thesupplication seemed to have been accepted. One Ḥabashī came around wearing two sheetsand made a supplication like this, ‘O Allah ( ‏,(عَزَّوَجَلَّ‏ we are sinners and You have ceasedwater to teach us respect. O Allah ( ‏!(عَزَّوَجَلَّ‏ With your blessing, let the rain descend, let itimmediately rain, let it immediately rain, let it immediately rain.’ All of a suddenthundering clouds covered the sky and it began to rain heavily. Shaykh Sayyidunā‘Abdullāĥ Bin Mubārak رَحمْ‏ ‏َةُ‏ االلهُ‏ تَعَالىٰ‏ ‏َلَيْه came to Sayyidunā Fuḍayl Bin ‘Iyāḍ رَحمْ‏ ‏َةُ‏ االلهُ‏ تَعَالىٰ‏ ‏َلَيْه whosaid, ‘You look sad! What is the matter?’ He then told of the incident that had taken place.Sayyidunā Fuḍayl Bin ‘Iyāḍ رَحمْ‏ ‏َةُ‏ االلهُ‏ تَعَالىٰ‏ ‏َلَيْه then screamed and fainted. (‘Uyūn-ul-Ḥikāyāt, vol. 1,pp. 408)عَ‏ لَيهِ‏ رَ‏ ‏ْح ‏َم الل الۡ‏زَادَهَا اللۡ مً‏ ا‏ُه شَرَفًا وَّ‏ ۡ تَعظِيتَعَالىٰ‏ ‏َلَيْهMay Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ‏ have mercy upon him and forgive us for his sake!ِ ِN ٰ ۡ ِ وَا ََ! Mََ ٰ Maḥabbat mayn Apnī gumā Yā IlāĥīNa pāūn mayn apna patā Yā IlāĥīTayray khauf say Tayray ḋar say ĥamayshaĥMayn tĥar tĥar raĥūn kānptā Yā IlāĥīMake me drown in Your love, O AllahSo much that I may lose my way, O AllahFrom Your fear, I alwaysTremble and shake, O Allah َُ ا‎J K َ LEَ ۡ‏َهِ‏ اFGاِ‏ ِI Eا-ِ‏وOَ‎33. A baby boy was bornIn order to rid yourself from the habit of backbiting and to make a habit of offeringṢalāĥ and practicing the Sunnaĥ, travel in the Madanī Qāfilaĥ with the devotees of theProphet. Lead your life according to the guidelines of Madanī In’āmāt in order to prosperin the world and to be successful in the Hereafter. Fill in the booklet and turn into therepresentative of Dawat-e-Islami within the first ten days of the new Madanī (Islamic)month.
