َِّۡ ِۡٓBackbiting – A Cancer in our Society 9Once, it was almost comical when two journalists were astonished to see me as theycrossed my path. They confirmed with me as to whether I was the same gangster and‏,عَزَّوَجَلَّ‏ wanted to publish my story in their newspaper, but I refused. By the grace of Allahit was the blessings of the righteous Madanī environment of Dawat-e-Islami that aperson as corrupt and decadent as me fostered a change within himself. I began to treadon the path of Ṣalāĥ and Sunnaĥ and became a respectable person of the community.Allah karam aysā karay tujĥ pay jaĥān maynAy Dawat-e-Islami tayrī dĥūm machī ĥoO Dawat-e-Islami, may Allah bless you so;That, around the world, you prosper and glow!Y َ ُa ٰ َ< ٰ Mََُ ا‎J K َ L َۡ2ِ ِN ٰ ۡ ِ وَا ََ! Mََ ٰ ُ ا‎J K َ LEَ ۡ‏َهِ‏ اG F اِ‏ ِI Eا-ِ‏وOَ‎ِbَ َ اZ‏ۡ‏]^ ۡ ا < َLInspirational efforts led him onto the path of ParadiseDear Islamic brothers! Did you observe the benefits of sincerity and perseverance in strivingto enjoin good? Due to someone’s inspirational efforts, one who was trailing on the pathof devastation of the Hereafter, changed course and set out on the path to Paradise. AllIslamic brothers should call everybody towards righteousness without distinction andhesitation. You never know that a few words you utter may change someone’s life andwhich inturn might engender perpetual reward for you. Enjoining towards good retainsmany virtues.Attaining the Šawāb of worshipping one year for every word‏ّنَا وَ‏ عَلَيْهِ‏ الصَّ‏ لٰوةُ‏ وَالسَّلاَ‏ م Once, the Prophet Sayyidunā Mūsā Kalīmullāĥ‏,عَزَّوَجَلَّ‏ asked Allah عَ!ٰ‏ نَبِيِ‏‘Allah ‏!عَزَّوَجَلَّ‏ What is the reward for the one who enjoins his brother towards good andforbids evil?’ Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ‏ replied, ‘For his every word, I grant him the reward worth ayear’s worship and I get Ḥayā in sanctioning him to the torments of Hell.’ (Mukāshafa-tul-Qulūb, pp. 48)
