ََِٰۡForty Parables 275َ Will you not ask me as to why I did such a thing?’ I complied and ‏!ر‎5َ‎ االلهُ‏asked him the question to which he replied, ‘This one time I was standing beneath a treewith the Holy Prophet َّ! االلهُ‏ تَعَالىٰ‏ ‏َلَيْهِ‏ وَاٰلِهٖ‏ وَسَلَّم ‏,صَ‏ he acted just like I did – holding a dry branch andshaking it until its leaves fell. Then the Beloved Prophet صَ‏ َّ! االلهُ‏ تَعَالىٰ‏ ‏َلَيْهِ‏ وَ‏ اٰلِهٖ‏ وَسَلَّم said, ‘O Salmān,صَ‏ َّ! االلهُ‏ تَعَالىٰ‏ ‏َلَيْهِ‏ وَاٰلِهٖ‏ وَسَلَّم will you not ask me why I did this.’ I asked, ‘Why did you do this?’ Hesaid, ‘Undoubtedly, when a Muslim does Wuḍū completely and offers the five Ṣalāĥ; hissins fall just like these leaves fall.’ Then he recited the following verse:تَعَالىٰ‏ عَنْهُ‏ ‘Ušmān﴾ ١١٤﴿ ۚ نل‏ ۡ ي ل‏ +‎9‎‏ري ٰ ۡ نزل فًا م‏ط ر Z Y ‏لن‏ ها ‏ر و ‏لص ٰ ¤ ‏~ة‏ و ق‏ ‏م‏ت ‏ن ي ذ ۡ ه©‏ ۡ ‏ا ت‏ +‏لس‏ ي‏ ٰللذ ذ ٰ لك ذك ۡ ر ٰ ي? ۡ : س نAnd establish prayer at the two ends of the day and in parts of the night. No doubt,good deeds obliterate evil deeds. Today, the pretence of my prestige and authorityOn Judgement Day, I will be disgraced due to my iniquityO Rab, forgive us and be pleased with us foreverI will remain in Paradise if you bestow this favourY َ ُa ٰ َ< ٰ MَاJY َ ُa ٰ َ< ٰ Mَََُ ا‎J K L َُِfۡeَۡOَُ ا‎J K L َ2 ِbا اMِ‎ َ ا‎Jاۡ2ِbَ َ اZ‏ۡ‏َL ۡ ‏^[ا
