166 <strong>Backbiting</strong> – A Cancer in our Societyfaced several punishments in the world. He lost his fair complexion and became dark.He became cold-hearted and eloped with his sister Liuza towards ‘Adan, and later hadillegitimate children [with her]. When he grew old, his own children used to throw stonesat him and he finally died from those stones. Besides this, we have already heard aboutthe horrific punishment he had to undergo after his death.‏,رَحمْ‏ ‏َةُ‏ االلهِ‏ تَعَالىٰ‏ ‏َلَيْه The renowned exegetist of Quran, Shaykh Muftī Aḥmad Yār Khān Na’īmīwhile discussing the evil deeds perpetrated by Qābīl, has listed the following, ‘Not beingdutiful to Prophet Sayyidunā Ādam وَالسَّلاَ‏ م ; intending to marry illegitimately;premeditating Ĥābīl’s murder; turning apostate after murdering him; singing and playingmusic; and inventing musical instruments.’ The Shaykh رَحمْ‏ ‏َةُ‏ االلهِ‏ تَعَالىٰ‏ ‏َلَيْه has further added,‘For an apostate or a non-believer, being the son of a Prophet is worthless. The lineage isonly beneficial, if the individual adheres to the true faith. Realize also, that Qābīl was ason of a Prophet yet he was still doomed.’ (Tafsīr Na’īmī, vol. 6, pp. 403-405)عَ‏!ٰ نَبNِ‎‏ِّنَا وَعَ لَيْهِ‏ الصَّ‏ لٰو ‏ُةTayrī raḥmataun ĥī say Īmān milā ĥayNa ĥo ab yeĥ mujĥ say judā Yā IlāĥīMusalmān ĥay ‘Aṭṭār Tayray karam sayĤo Īmān per khātimaĥ Yā IlāĥīBy your blessings, I have received faithYā Allah, may this never part from me‘Aṭṭār is a Muslim by your grantMay he die with faithParticipation in Dars resulted in my rectificationTo infuse a passion for safeguarding your faith; and in order to rid yourself from thehabit of backbiting against others and listening to it; and to develop a routine of offeringṢalāĥ and practicing the Sunnaĥ, travel in the Madanī Qāfilaĥ with the devotees of theProphet. Further, to prosper in this world and to be successful in the Hereafter, leadyour lives according to the guidelines prescribed in Madanī In’āmāt. Fill in the bookletand turn into the representative of <strong>Dawat</strong>-e-<strong>Islami</strong> within the first ten days of the newMadanī month. There are many blessings of giving Dars from ‘Faīzān-e-Sunnat’ alongwith the blessings of one’s individual efforts, and observing I’tikāf with the devotees ofRasūl during the month of Ramadan.
