Muftī Aḥmad YārKhān Na’īmī رَحمْ‏ ‏َةُ‏ االلهِ‏ تَعَالىٰ‏ ‏َلَيْه has further added: From the elaborations of the Masters of Ḥadīšand the classifications of the Fuqaĥā, we learn two things: Firstly, that it is permissible toplace any fresh green part of a plant on any Muslim’s grave. The Compassionate Prophethimself placed the (fresh green) branches on the graves of those who لَيْهِ‏ وَاٰلِهٖ‏ وَسَلَّمwere undergoing punishment. Secondly, that the Tasbīḥ of these branches caused themitigation of the punishment. Therefore, if we place fresh plants and flowers on the grave,it will benefit the deceased in their graves. Actually the wisdom in leaving عَزَّوَجَلَّ‏the top of the grave un-bricked is so that green grass grows there with rain water and itsTasbīḥ relieves the punishment.صَ‏ !َّ ال لهُ‏ تَعَالىٰ‏ ‏َعاِنْ‏ شَآءَاللهĤay kaun kay jo giryāĥ karay Fātiḥaĥ ko āyeBarsāye kaun qabr pay baykas kī baĥaran pĥūlWho will recite Quran and pray for grace for the powerlessWho will spray flowers on the grave of this helplessY َ ُa ٰ َ< ٰ Mََُ ا‎J K َ LBackbiting is severer than fornicationۡ2‘ said: لَيْهِ‏ وَاٰلِهٖ‏ وَسَلَّمِbَ َ اZ‏ۡ‏]^ ۡ ا < َLاeَ‎‏ِ‏ 7b ا َsَ َRِ ^Y ا‏W‏ّ‏ۡ Backbiting isThe Beloved and Blessed Prophet صَ‏ َّ! ال لهُ‏ تَعَالىٰ‏ ‏َع َpِseverer than fornication.’ People asked, ‘Yā Rasūlallāĥ َّ! االلهُ‏ تَعَالىٰ‏ ‏َلَيْهِ‏ وَاٰلِهٖ‏ وَسَلَّم ‏!صَ‏ Why is that?’ TheProphet صَ‏ َّ! االلهُ‏ تَعَالىٰ‏ ‏َلَيْهِ‏ وَاٰلِهٖ‏ وَسَلَّم replied, ‘A person fornicates then he repents, Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ‏ acceptshis repentance.
